Sean Dyche sack update: Everton pressure intensifies amid Thelwell reveal

Sean Dyche is under increasing pressure at Everton after a disappointing start to the season, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the “pressure is building” on Dyche to keep his job.

Everton have lost all four of their opening matches in the Premier League, with the two most recent outings seeing them give up two-goal leads.

The Merseyside club were also knocked out of the EFL Cup by Southampton in midweek (17 September), further compounding their early-season misery.

There is growing concern among supporters, but there are suggestions that sporting director Kevin Thelwell and Farhad Moshiri were behind Dyche ahead of last weekend’s game against Aston Villa.

Thelwell has worked alongside Dyche closely even though there has been an absent owner at the helm of the club and he is backing the manager despite a poor start to the season.

The sporting director has publicly spoken about his close working relationship with Dyche, with the two men talking regularly to resolve Everton’s issues.

Sean Dyche needs to quickly change the mood at Everton

Whenever a manager isn’t getting results the pressure naturally builds, and that intensifies when the club is sat bottom of the Premier League like Everton.

Dyche’s men have conceded 13 goals in four games, which is more than any other club in the division.

There is still some belief that the former Burnley boss is the right man for the job, but fans are “quite unhappy” with how the season has commenced.

Everton will be back in action on Saturday (28 September) as they face Crystal Palace.

The Merseyside club could escape the relegation zone with three points at the weekend, should other results go in their favour.
