Sean Dyche update: ‘Friedkins to extend favourite Everton boss’

Sean Dyche will be kept on at Everton by The Friedkin Group (TFG) as long as the team scores more goals, according to Darren Ambrose.

On 19 December, TFG officially announced their acquisition of Farshad Moshiri’s majority stake in the club.

Representation from the Texas-based group attended Goodison Park on Sunday, 22 December, to watch Everton’s goalless draw against Chelsea.

While Dyche’s style of play has drawn criticism from some pundits, Ambrose stated on Sky Sports News that he believes the former Burnley manager will be supported by the new ownership ahead of a possible contract extension.

He said ahead of the Chelsea game (1.21pm): “I think he does get enough credit, I do. I think he gets backing as well. Not financially of course, but he gets backing because there’s moments that you’d have said other managers may have lost their job in some of the situations, but he hasn’t.

“He’s one of my favourite managers in the Premier League, I can’t tell you why. I just really like his style, I like his interviews. He’s a character, and the Premier League needs characters and he is certainly one of them.

“They don’t score enough goals. I think only Southampton have scored less than them, so he needs to create a team to score more goals and if he can do that, I think he’ll be there. I think The Friedkin Group are gonna keep him”.

Everton in no rush to part ways with Sean Dyche as TFG plans take shape

Football Insider opinion

Everton fans are optimistic about the changes TFG may bring to rejuvenate the club and guide it away from its recent struggles.

Despite speculation, it appears the new owners are not planning an “immediate change” in management.

Dyche, who has guided the team to 15th place, four points above the relegation zone, remains in charge.

However, with just one win in their last five matches and only ten goals scored in their last 12 games, frustrations over the defensive style of play are growing among supporters.

The long-awaited arrival of the new owners has sparked excitement, as they are reportedly preparing another cash injection to stabilise the club. They plan to increase their equity from 98.8% to 99.5%, despite the “dire financial situation” left behind by previous owner Farshad Moshiri, including debts exceeding £600 million.

Fans are hopeful that avoiding relegation this season and the prospect of moving into a new stadium will signal a brighter future for the club, and if Dyche is to remain past the summer he will surely have to do more with an improved squad.
