Sean Longstaff destined for early Leeds United exit amid Kofi Amoako development

Sean Longstaff’s game time at Leeds United has been heavily reduced in recent weeks.

The midfielder had been a regular at the start of the 2025-26 campaign after signing for the club in the summer.

However, since the turn of the year, Longstaff has been forced to fight for his place in the starting XI without much success.

Since the beginning of March, he has only made one start, in the 3-0 FA Cup victory over Norwich City, and has been forced to only appear in short cameos in the Premier League.

Now, with BILD on 6 May confirming that Leeds are pursuing Kofi Amoako, Longstaff’s time at Elland Road is surely coming to an end.

The Peacocks are now on the tail of Amoako ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Dynamo Dresden midfielder has impressed in the 2 Bundesliga and is now being eyed by multiple sides, including Leeds.

While the 21-year-old is unlikely to be a starter anytime soon at Leeds if they complete the transfer, he could prove to be a good squad option.

However, this would no doubt reduce Longstaff’s game time further, and he could go from receiving minimal minutes in the Premier League to none at all as Daniel Farke looks to develop Amoako.

As a result, Longstaff is surely destined for a quick Elland Road exit as he aims to improve his game time once more.

Who else are Leeds linked with?

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Leeds United are eyeing Ayase Ueda this summer transfer window.

The Feyenoord striker has struck 25 goals from just 30 league appearances this season, and the club are willing to listen to offers.

Leeds considers him a key target, but will have to battle with Everton and Tottenham Hotspur to get it over the line.

Feyenoord are extremely reluctant to lose their free-scoring forward, but sources have indicated that they are willing to consider a sale if a “big offer” is put on the table ahead of next season.

However, it remains to be seen if Leeds are able to complete the deal over the coming months, with plenty of twists and turns in the transfer window expected.
