‘See you soon’ – Eduardo Camavinga reacts to Ibrahima Konate’s latest message
Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga has reacted to a “see you soon” message from Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate amid rumours that the centre-back could soon be on his way to Los Blancos.
Liverpool’s recent Premier League title success was fronted by a strong centre-back pairing of Konate and Virgil van Dijk, who helped the Reds keep the most clean sheets in the league as a team, with 14.
The French international has been with the Merseyside club since a £36million [Sky Sports] move from RB Leipzig in 2021, and has made 132 appearances in the four years that have followed.
The Reds will not want to lose Konate anytime soon as they plan another title charge, but Football Insider revealed in May that Real Madrid were “very interested” in signing Konate following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Los Blancos.
The Guardian reported last month that the 26-year-old had rejected a new contract with the Anfield outfit after being left disappointed with the wages on offer, and Football Insider revealed on 20 July that Madrid were set to make an attempt to sign Konate for just £25million, and rumours of his exit have now been fuelled by new developments.

Konate shares Japan message as Liverpool tour ends
Konate is yet to leave Liverpool, and he was handed a start in their 3-1 friendly win over J-League side Yokohama F.Marinos on Wednesday (30 July).
The Reds’ tour of Asia is now over following the game, and their preparations for the new campaign will now continue on home turf against Athletic Bilbao on 4 August.
Konate took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a goodbye message to the Reds fans that turned out for their game in Japan against Yokohama, saying: “THE PLACE TO BE ! Thank you Tokyo. SEE YOU SOON !!” with Japan flag and red-heart emojis.
His message was reacted to with a like from Real Madrid star Camavinga, whom he could join in the Spanish capital soon, while Florian Wirtz, Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones all also liked his post.
Liverpool likely to sign Marc Guehi if Konate leaves
Football Insider verdict
Former scout Mick Brown told Football Insider last month that Liverpool are planning to accept offers for Konate this summer rather than letting him leave for free next year, after their contract talks stalled, and so an exit certainly looks likely in the not-too-distant future.
If he does leave, then the Reds will need to bring in an adequate replacement as soon as possible, and Football Insider exclusively revealed in June that Marc Guehi wants to join Liverpool and the Reds have emerged in pole position to agree a deal this summer.
Player | Appearances | Goals | Pass completion % | Tackles won per 90 | % of aerials won |
Konate | 31 | 1 | 90.2% | 0.91 | 71.8% |
Guehi | 34 | 3 | 83.5% | 1 | 54% |
The Crystal Palace centre-back will not want to move to Anfield to be second-choice behind Konate, and Football Insider revealed on Monday (28 July) that Liverpool still have a concrete interest in signing Guehi, with the Reds planning to make an approach for his services in the coming weeks.
That means that the Frenchman’s exit is surely likely soon, and it looks as if Real will be able to complete a double-swoop of Liverpool stars this summer following Alexander-Arnold’s recent arrival at the end of his Reds contract.
