Rodgers favourite must be axed: Three things learned about Celtic in draw v Motherwell

McGREGOR IS NOT A LEFT-BACK

With the absence of Kieran Tierney with an injury, Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers elected to play Callum McGregor on the left, as a left-back/left-wing hybrid.

The move didn’t work though, and it hasn’t in the past, McGregor is just not suited to play in a left-back role. The game seem made for Calvin Miller, who is a left-back and could have played in Tierney’s place.

Unfortunately McGregor was shoehorned into a role which isn’t his best, and the Hoops missed his running between the boxes in midfield.

Hopefully Tierney will return after the international break and McGregor can move back into midfield.
