Senior Rangers stars conspicuously absent from Florida trip

COMMENT
Rangers’ first-team squad jetted off to Florida on Saturday as they prepare for the second-half of the Scottish Premiership season and a crack at the Scottish Cup.
As the Gers squad made their way through departures at Edinburgh Airport club captain Lee Wallace was conspicuous in his absence.
Manager Graeme Murty has given regular updates on the left-back’s recovery from injury but missing the trip to the United States raises more questions over Wallace’s fitness than it answers.
Has Wallace suffered a further setback which has delayed his return from injury?
If he has, the permanent signing of Welshman Declan John might just prove to be an inspired bit of business with several Championship sides believed to have been interested in signing him before Rangers clinched a long-term deal.
The club captain wasn’t the only senior star to miss the trip with Bruno Alves in Portugal receiving treatment on a calf injury and Carlos Pena expected to be confirmed as a Cruz Azul player imminently.
Mexican striker Eduardo Herrera was another notable absence and with the striker not believed to be injured the obvious assumption is that he’s next to leave the club with a return to his homeland the most likely option for the most used substitute this season in the Scottish Premiership.
In other Rangers transfer news, Rangers are battling a Championship club for the signature of this 12-goal striker.
