‘Sensational’ star to fire West Ham to incredible feat vs Arsenal for the first time since 1995

Mikel Arteta will be hoping to avoid a familiar nightmare when Arsenal welcome West Ham to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal beat Newcastle United 2-1 in dramatic fashion last time out, with Mikel Merino and Gabriel Magalhaes netting in the final 10 minutes to complete the turnaround at St James’ Park.

While Gabriel should have been sent off for an apparent punch on Nick Woltemade, he was allowed to stay on to score the winner in a result which moved the Gunners to within two points of Liverpool.

And although the Hammers are in woeful form heading into the clash on Saturday, 4 October, Arteta and his team will need to keep their eye on one specific player at Nuno Espirito Santo‘s disposal.

Jarrod Bowen can haunt Arsenal and Mikel Arteta again

Jarrod Bowen is in fantastic form despite West Ham’s struggles this season, getting involved in 11 goals during his last 12 league outings, scoring eight and assisting three.

Speaking back in 2023, Don Hutchison dubbed him “sensational”, and very few would argue against that.

Not only that, but in 12 matches against the Gunners, he has notched five goals and two assists, also scoring the only goal in the Hammers’ 1-0 win at the Emirates Stadium last season.

Arteta’s side had several chances to equalise, or even win the game, but with Myles Lewis-Skelly getting sent off in the 73rd minute, Graham Potter held on for a rare West Ham win.

Nuno will be hoping for more of the same after replacing Potter last week. After a spirited display away at Everton, the Hammers could come away with a historic victory this weekend.

West Ham can achieve a rare feat at the Emirates Stadium

If West Ham are to achieve a rare win this season, according to BBC Sport, it would be the first time Arsenal have lost three consecutive home games against the Hammers since the 1991-1995 period.

This would be just the second time in history that this has occurred, and Bowen will likely play a huge role if that is to happen. Few teams have actually worked out how to stop him.

Vitaliy Mykolenko appeared to have it figured out at the Hill Dickinson Stadium until the England international fired home a beautiful effort from just inside the 18-yard box.

Nuno has a real weapon on his hands, and achieving this kind of accomplishment so early on in his tenure would only get him in the good books at the London Stadium.
