Sergio Reguilon: Tottenham could sell star to Real Madrid and secure £10m profit – Expert

Tottenham could sell Sergio Reguilon back to Real Madrid this summer and make a £10million profit.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

El Espanol reported on 10 February that Reguilon, 25, is on a shortlist of targets for Real Madrid.

As per Football.London, (13 February) it would cost Real Madrid around £43million to complete a deal this summer.

That would represent a £10m profit on a player they signed for £28m rising to £33m with add-ons.

Wenham isn’t against Spurs cashing in on the defender.

“Reguilon has been steady since he came in,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He’s never been outstanding. For example, he has never hit the levels of say a prime Danny Rose.

“He has been the most competent of our four full-backs over the last few years, not outstanding, competent.

“Look, if there is a chance to sell and make a £10million profit on Reguilon after using him for two years and he’s not being outstanding, I’m not against selling.

“He has a lot of energy and gets up and down the wing and he doesn’t really make any defensive howlers.

“I like his character as well. I think there might be a bit of lazy journalism here, to be honest.

“It has been well known for a while that Real Madrid have this option to sign him because Spanish clubs are far more open about their transfer business.

Tottenham

“Last summer, the clause would have given Tottenham a £5million profit and this summer it be a £10million profit.

“The one other thing I would say is they recently signed Ferland Mendy for something like £50million, I don’t really see them spending big on Reguilon after his form over the last few years.”
