Sergio Reguilon will leave Tottenham this summer after ‘massive’ twist – expert
Sergio Reguilon will look to leave Tottenham this summer as he would not want to play “second fiddle” to Destiny Udogie.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Spurs and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton admitted that Reguilon, 27, would be an “ideal” member of the squad now following Udogie’s season-ending injury, but was adamant that he will seek an exit in the off-season.
The full-back struggled for minutes at Tottenham and was immediately sent out on loan to Man United in the summer after Ange Postecoglou’s arrival.
While his spell at Old Trafford was unsuccessful, he is showing his best on loan at Brentford having notched four assists across 13 Premier League appearances for the Bees.
Sergio Reguilon to seek Tottenham exit this summer – Hutton
Hutton believes that the Spaniard would not be able to usurp Udogie as Postecoglou’s starting left-back and claimed he would want to be a regular starter away from north London.
“It’s an interesting one because I do think Reguilon is a good player,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s an attacking full-back and he’s done well out on loan with Brentford.
“With the situation at Tottenham with their injuries, he would be an ideal replacement to come in and play right now.
“There’s a lack of numbers in the squad who can play with the style Ange wants to, so is Reguilon returning an option?
“Possibly, but would he be happy playing second fiddle now that Destiny Udogie has signed a massively long-term contract?
“He’s the number one go-to guy.

“Will Reguilon want to stick around as second choice? I don’t think so, I think he’ll look to move on.
“If he can’t stay at Brentford, I think he will look to move in the summer.”
