Shearer makes astounding nine figure claim over Tottenham’s Kane

The Premier League’s record goalscorer Alan Shearer has claimed that Tottenham striker Harry Kane is worth over £180million as a result of his impressive goal scoring exploits.

The Spurs star netted a hat trick on Saturday to secure his club a 3-0 win away at Burnley, with his goals meaning he has equalled the record for most league goals in a calendar year, which currently stands at 36, and is an achievement which has been held by Shearer for the last 22 years.

The 24-year-old has now scored a total of 53 goals since the start of 2017, and as such former Newcastle United striker Shearer believes that Kane is now worth an astounding amount, over two times the £90million he claimed he was worth 12 months ago.

He told BBC’s Match of the Day (23/12, 22:30): “He is obsessed with scoring goals, the hunger to get on the ball, and put it in the back of the net.

“Everything about him is class. Last year I said he is worth £90 million, now he is worth more than double that.”

Kane has netted 21 goals in 23 appearances across all competitions, including 15 Premier League goals, leaving him joint with Mohamed Salah at the top of the goal scoring ranks, and six Champions League strikes in his five European outings.

He could go on to break Shearer’s record tally over 12 months on boxing day, when Spurs play host to Southampton, with their next game coming on the 2nd January in a visit to a struggling Swansea side.

In other Tottenham news, fans were left delighted with one of Kane’s team mates in the win over Burnley.
