Shearer delivers three-word verdict on Tottenham Premier League hopes
Alan Shearer believes Tottenham are in “danger” of missing their moment and said they’re just “not good enough” to win the Premier League.
In his column for The Sun, the pundit shared his concerns about Spurs and Alli as he explained why he is worried for them.
“I cannot help feeling Spurs are in danger of really missing a moment in time,” said Shearer.
“This team maybe has two or three more years to win something, it could start breaking up before that, particularly if they fail to make the top four this term.”
The pundit continued revealing that due to Tottenham moving into a new stadium, they must qualify for the Champions League next season.
Shearer went on to list Tottenham’s problems as he called them “not good enough” to win the Premier League, citing their record against the top six and missing key players like Toby Alderweireld as factors.
The pundit also referenced Spurs’ difficulty with keeping up with the “spending power” of the Manchester clubs, however the pundit’s biggest grievance was Alli.
Shearer revealed that Alli had rested on his laurels and that after watching him against Manchester City all Shearer saw was “another young English player falling short of the hype.”
The pundit suggested that previous praise for his performances had caused him to forget to focus and work hard.
Alli has played 22 times this season across all competitions for Spurs and scored seven goals.
Tottenham are next in action on Saturday against Burnley who sit sixth in the league, one place above them.
In other Tottenham news, Kane has delivered a two-word verdict to Spurs fans after the defeat.
