Sheffield United icon reacts to Ollie McBurnie controversy as ‘disgraceful’ scenes slammed
Judgement must be held on Sheffield United star Ollie McBurnie until more footage emerges of his altercation with a fan.
That’s according to former Blades stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the ongoing controversy.
As per BBC Sport (18 May), Police and the FA are investigating a video that appears to show McBurnie, 25, stamping on a fan after his side’s loss against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday (17 May).
The incident occurred after fans invaded the pitch following the conclusion of the penalty shootout.
Responding to a fan on social media after the game, the striker used the “100” emoji in response to a fan who suggested McBurnie had simply moved out of the way of the fan in question.
Former Sheffield United stopper Kenny insists judgement must be held until more footage emerges.
“The first thing to say is the scenes after the game were disgraceful,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“What happened with Billy Sharp was disgraceful. I have seen the McBurnie video and we don’t know what has gone on.
“I would like to see the full video, the full picture to make a judgement on it.
“I have been there, you get frustrated, you bite at people in those situations. Sometimes people feel like they can say what they want to you.

“I’m not saying that is what has happened here but we all know it happens.
“People react in different ways. If he has done it, it’s not acceptable but we just have to wait and see what happens and if more footage comes out before making a proper judgement.”
