Paddy Kenny ‘worried’ West Brom could hijack Sheffield United’s Jokanovic pursuit

Sheffield United will be worried that West Brom could hijack their pursuit of former Fulham and Watford boss Slavisa Jokanovic.

That is according to ex-Blades goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the club’s search for a new manager.

Both United and West Brom will play in the Championship next term after finishing 20th and 19th respectively in the top-flight this season.

This site revealed last week that Jokanovic, 52, was interviewed for the Bramall Lane post.

Football Insider also understands that former Blades boss Chris Wilder is the leading candidate for the vacant managerial position at West Brom.

But Kenny is concerned that the Baggies could turn their attention to Jokanovic and potentially gazump United.

“It is worrying. I’m worried they could hijack Sheffield United,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“They are looking to bounce straight back up just like Sheffield United are. At the moment, it looks like it might be Wilder but obviously, things can change.

“Wilder is the favourite for the job but if they are after an experienced manager who knows that league then that could definitely be a possibility.

“West Brom are on the lookout for an experienced manager and Wilder and Jokanovic are both that. I’m sure they’ll have an eye on both of them.”

Sam Allardyce confirmed last week that he would not return as Albion boss next season after failing to fight off relegation.

Interim United manager Paul Heckingbottom also hinted that he too would not remain in the Bramall Lane dugout for 2021-22.
