Sheffield United set conditions for Gustavo Hamer sale amid Leeds interest

Sheffield United have had a catastrophic start to their Championship campaign, losing all four of their opening league games.

Head coach Ruben Selles joined the club after Dean Wilder left the club by mutual consent following their Playoff Final defeat to Sunderland.

Selles has struggled to find a rhythm from his team so far this season as big names like Anel Ahmedhodzic and Vini Souza left Bramall Lane this summer.

Gustavo Hamer is the latest big Blades star to attract interest from an outside club, with Yorkshire rivals Leeds and Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven both registering interest.

Gustavo Hamer the subject of big interest

Football Insider exclusively revealed that PSV were interested in a move for Hamer, and Sheffield United fans aren’t happy about the amount of stars leaving the club this summer.

FourFourTwo’s Joe Donnohue revealed Sheffield United’s demands for a Hamer exit: “Clubs in England, as well as those abroad, have been alerted to the prospect of a deal which could be structured in a way which sees the Blades talisman leave on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the 2025-26 season.

“It is understood a number of Premier League clubs have turned down the opportunity to sign Hamer this summer, but a move is still possible,” he continued.

Football Insider also revealed Selles’ side have explored a deal for Luton’s Tahith Chong after a move for Danny Ings was confirmed.

Football Insider verdict

Selles has found life at the club difficult with his side yet to pick up a point and having only scored one goal during the early stages of the campaign.

The hangover from Sheffield United’s playoff loss is looming large over Bramall Lane and Selles will know he has to turn results around quickly.

Several teams have endured slow starts to the Championship season and the Steel City club will be aware that a strong run of results can easily propell them back up the table.

Nonetheless, Selles’ side’s early form is concerning and the Spaniard will have to work tirelessly during the international break to wrestle back momentum for his side on the other side of the two-week pause in play.
