Shelbourne vs Crystal Palace postponement latest as Ireland battered gale-force winds

Crystal Palace take on Shelbourne on 11 December in the Conference League as they look to pick up a much needed set of three points.

Following Adam Wharton’s marvellous performance in Crystal Palace’s 2-1 win against Fulham on 7 December, Oliver Glasner‘s side turn their attention back to Europe.

Crystal Palace will continue to be without the injured Ismaila Sarr for the trip to Ireland as they look to pick up their third win in the European third-tier competition.

However, the latest weather warnings could have a knock-on effect for the game for when the Eagles head to Tolka Park to play against Shelbourne.

Shelbourne’s open stadium could throw up tricky conditions for both players and travelling fans

The Irish outfit are still on the search for their first victory in the Conference League this season as they prepare for the visit of the Eagles.

The sold out Tolka Park is bracing for not just a flurry of 5,700 fans from both teams, but also possible blustery conditions.

The latest weather update from Met Éireann has given a yellow warning for gusty and strong winds that are expected to hit the peninsula from the sea.

Whilst the match may not be affected by the full force of the winds, supporters travelling by sea are likely in for a bumpy ride, where the currents will be at their strongest.

Moreover, given Shelbourne’s home ground’s openness, it is possible that these heavy gales could reach the stadium and produce difficult conditions for the players and the fans.

Crystal Palace expected to rotate against Shelbourne as much as they can amid a very congested fixture run

Glasner will be hoping the winds won’t be too brutal on his travelling squad as he looks to give key players a worthy rest.

The Eagles are currently plodding their way through a congested fixture run with little time to breath, given their multi-competition involvement.

Daniel Munoz‘s knee injury will surely see Nathaniel Clyne start once again, whilst Jaydee Canvot and Walter Benitez could appear again to give others a break from the hectic action.

A midfield duo of Will Hughes and Jefferson Lerma will also likely come back into the starting XI as Palace seek a crucial win on their travels in the Conference League.
