‘Shock’ Amad Diallo verdict after Rangers news in last 48 hours – pundit

Adam Diallo hasn’t adapted to Scottish football and Rangers should not have signed him.

That’s according to former Celtic hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Manchester United loanee.

As per Manchester Evening News (25 March) it is “highly unlikely” Diallo will return to Rangers next season.

Rangers

The 19-year-old has only made six appearances for the Gers since joining them on loan in January.

He has failed to make it off the bench on seven occasions and only has 226 minutes in the pitch to his name.

McAvennie wonders why Rangers signed the attacker considering the club’s strength in that area of the pitch.

“There is no doubting the kid’s ability,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“When I came up to Scotland my manager said I wasn’t fit enough and that I needed to be stronger.

“Luckily for me, I had already played in Scotland so I knew was it would take.

“It’s a different game up here. In England, players will take the ball. In Scotland, you take the ball and the man.

“It’s frantic, you get no time on the ball. Diallo doesn’t have the time to run with the ball, it can be a shock to a player.

“He’s only a young boy and he has bags of talent but maybe Van Bronckhorst doesn’t trust him.

Rangers

“There are loads of options for Rangers in that position so if you aren’t up to the job, you won’t play.

“It just makes me wonder why they signed him if he’s not up to it.”

In other news, we reveal Rangers are on course to make “phenomenal” £70m announcement.
