The Egyptian was once a great striker on the European scene and whilst at Ajax he was considered one of the hottest prospects in the game.
Ajax, Marseille, and AS Roma was where the forward spent the best days of a career, which by the time he arrived at Tottenham, had gone into decline.
After a disappointing spell at Middlesbrough, the powers that be thought the former Ajax star could work his magic at the Boleyn Ground with a loan move for him on £1,000-a-week wages.
