Preston North End are hoping to finalise the signing of Coventry City midfielder Tom Bayliss today after having a £2million bid accepted, Football Insider understands.

The 20-year-old is poised to undergo a medical at the Championship outfit this morning and put the finishing touches to a deal amounting to a seven-figure sum.

A Preston source has told Football Insider there was a breakthrough in negotiations yesterday after the club made a fresh move for one of the best young prospects in the Football League.

Alex Neil's side are also hoping to add the signing of Derby County defender Max Lowe to Bayliss in a late-window signing blitz.

Preston announced the signing of forward Andre Green on loan from Aston Villa last night, a deal that was first revealed by Football Insider earlier in the day.

Bayliss has made over 60 appearances for Coventry after breaking into the first team in 2017 and has represented England at Under-20 level.

He played in 41 matches in all competitions for the League One outfit last season, scoring three goals and supplying three assists.
