Scott Sinclair: This is where Celtic will focus efforts v Rangers

By James Black

Scott Sinclair has made it clear that he and his Celtic team-mates will only focus on what they’re doing and not Rangers when the two Old Firm rivals collide at Ibrox on Saturday.

The attacker has been in lethal form against the Light Blues since moving to Scotland and whatever he has been thinking in previous all-Glasgow clashes has obviously worked out so far.

The 28-year-old former Aston Villa star, who joined Celtic last summer in a £3million move has now denied claims that his side will be concerning themselves too much with what Pedro Caxinha’s men do.

“I just concentrate on Celtic and everything surrounding Celtic,” Sinclair said as quoted by the the Evening Times website.

“I don’t look at any other players.

“We just focus on ourselves. From last year up until now it has been working and so we don’t need to look elsewhere.”

The Hoops netted 16 times against Rangers in six games last season – racking up home and away 5-1 wins – and fans are hopeful of another high-scoring win.

Sinclair, though, believes leaving Ibrox with three points is the most important thing for Brendan Rodgers’ squad, telling the Evening Times: “Coming off winning all the time is the main thing.”

“When we come off with the three points that is the whole object of things.

“We just take every game as it comes. We go into every game giving 100 per cent and we want to come out and to win it.”

Sinclair has been in fantastic form so far this season with nine goals in 13 appearances. helping to fire Celtic into the Champions League group stage.

He also enjoyed a brilliant debut season in Scotland, scoring 25 in 50 games, as he helped Celtic to a domestic treble and was named PFA Scotland’s Players’ Player of the Year by his fellow professionals.

Celtic have won both of their last two games 4-0 as they look to extend their lead over their bitter rivals to eight points after only seven league games.

Rodgers’ side will also be aiming to continue their 56-game unbeaten domestic record before travelling to Belgium to face Anderlecht in the Champions League.

In other Celtic news, Sinclair has said why this Hoops star doesn’t get enough credit.
