Sir Alex Ferguson ‘never far off the mark’ after Man United manager hunt update – pundit
Carlo Ancelotti could be the man to transform Man United, according to Alex McLeish.
The former Scotland and Rangers boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the club trust the judgement of Sir Alex Ferguson when it comes to Ancelotti, 62.
Speaking to club media on Tuesday (1 March), United’s football director John Murtough revealed a “thorough process” is underway to find the club’s new permanent manager.

According to ESPN‘s Rob Dawson (2 March), Ancelotti has emerged as a surprise short-term option for the Red Devils.
Sir Alex Ferguson is said to be an admirer of the current Real Madrid manager and has recommended him to the board.
McLeish claimed the United legend “is never far off the mark.”
“It depends on the players you’ve got,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“Ancelotti will be aware of that. The players make a manager. Yes, managers have methods and ways of dealing with players but the quality of player is imperative.
“People who are doing their research and who are finding the players, they have to be accountable as well. The recruitment is the biggest challenge for me. That is something [Pep] Guardiola and [Jurgen] Klopp have been great at.

“If Ancelotti has the right players, he has proven that he is a top coach. Nothing shows up a manager more than when players are not at the level they should be. It becomes apparent very quickly at clubs like Manchester United.
“I’ve read that Sir Alex Ferguson has recommended Ancelotti. That guy is never far off the mark.”
