Sky pundit highlights major flaw in Arsenal mentality

Gary Neville believes that Arsenal are more concerned about attacking rather than defending and that has cost them dearly this season.

The Gunners slipped to a crushing 3-1 defeat away to Chelsea on Saturday and saw their Premier League title hopes drift even further away.

Arsene Wenger’s side were struck by goals from Pedro, Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas, with Olivier Giroud managing a late consolation.

The north London club were cut open by Chelsea’s impressive frontline on numerous occasions and found it difficult to nullify their threat.

Neville claims that there is a mentality issue with the Arsenal players and feels they’re solely focused on the attacking aspect of their game.

“They are not a shrewd team, I have to say. They’ve got a lot of players who prefer to only think about the attacking side of the game,” Neville said on his podcast.

Arsenal have now slipped 12 points behind runaway leaders Chelsea in the Premier League table and look set to be involved in a battle for the top four places.

The Gunners players showed their weaknesses against Chelsea as winger Theo Walcott and Alex Iwobi were pegged back by wing-backs Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso respectively.

Meanwhile, the Blues look a well drilled outfit under Italian manager Antonio Conte and were able to limit Arsenal for the most-part.

In other Arsenal news, Glenn Hoddle believes the club’s midfielder vanished against Chelsea.
