Sky Sports presenter issues fresh response after Warburton rant, has message for Caixinha
By Amir Mir
Sky Sports presenter David Tanner has apologised to former Rangers manager Mark Warburton following recent criticism.
Broadcaster Tanner, who has since deleted his Instagram rant about Warburton, slammed the Englishmen for always thinking he was being misquoted and claimed he knew very little.
He stated that he meant “no offence” to the club’s new manager Pedro Caixinha, who he initially praised for the manner in which he conducted himself to the media.
TV host, Tanner can be regularly seen on viewers screens when Sky Sports are broadcasting Scottish Premiership matches.
Following the Gers’ 3-0 win over second-placed Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon, Tanner issued this fresh response to Warburton.
“By the way, I meant no offence to anyone in a recent post about the new manager of Rangers, Pedro Caixinha,” Tanner wrote on his personal Instagram account.
“Apologies to Mark Warburton or anyone who took offence, that certainly wasn’t my intention. Best of luck to him and big Davie Weir at Forest.”
Warburton left his post at Ibrox in February, with the club announcing that he had resigned from his job as he continued to deny those claims.
He has since taken over the managerial role at Championship strugglers Nottingham Forest, with former Al-Gharafa manager, Caixinha brought in as his replacement.
The Portuguese has since recorded two wins and two draws with his new side and is looking to close an unlikely nine-point gap on the second-placed Dons.
There are a number of big matches coming up for Caixinha, including an Old Firm clash against Celtic on April 23, with the winner set to face either Aberdeen or Hibernian in the final of the Scottish Cup.
