Sky Sports pundit predicts Aston Villa v Hull

By Harvey Byrne

Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted Aston Villa to kick off the 2017-18 campaign with a victory over Hull on Saturday.

The Midlands giants are currently preparing to get their season underway against Leonid Slutsky’s Tigers.

The east Yorkshire-based club suffered relegation from the Premier League in the last campaign and they will be looking for an immediate return, while Villa are also targeting promotion.

This has seen the exciting fixture scheduled for Sky’s 5.30pm kick off on Saturday and Prutton has predicted a narrow 2-1 victory for Aston Villa with Scott Hogan as the first scorer.

“With Steve Bruce and John Terry leading them, Aston Villa should be right up there and they’ll want to show what they can do on opening day against a team that have just been relegated from the Premier League,” told Prutton, as quoted by the Sky Sports website.

“Hull have lost a fair amount of players and this might be a bit of a transition season for them. For me it’s a Villa win but a narrow one.”

Aston Villa were in the same situation as Hull this time last year and they were defeated 1-0 by Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on the opening day.

Steve Bruce’s side will now be looking to inflict the same fate on the Tigers as they seek vast improvement’s from last season’s third placed finish.

Villa have added each of Glenn Whelan, Ahmed Elmohamady, John Terry, Sam Johnstone and Chris Samba to their side this summer and the quintet will be hoping to make an impact on the opening day of the 2017-18 season.

In other Aston Villa news, Ron Atkinson believes this Villa player could be the best in the league.
