Sky Sports pundit predicts Leeds Boxing Day clash v Burton
David Prutton believes that Leeds United will continue their impressive form by beating Burton at the Pirelli Stadium on Boxing Day.
The Sky Sports pundit has predicted that the Whites will walk away from Staffordshire with three points in the bag after a hard-fought 1-0 win.
The ex-Leeds midfielder has also claimed that he sees Kemar Roofe bagging the one and only goal on Tuesday in what is bound to be a close encounter against two sides in good form.
“What a week it has been for Burton. Two fantastic wins at Bolton and Reading have lifted them all the way out of the relegation zone at a time where they looked to be in real trouble and in danger of slipping away,” Prutton said on the Sky Sports website.
“They’re up against a Leeds side who are feeling good again, though, and are back in the play-offs after a decent run. This will be a tight game, but I think Thomas Christiansen’s side will nick the win.”
Leeds moved up to fifth in the table after winning 1-0 against Hull on Saturday, ensuring that they will be in the Championship play-off spots by Christmas.
However a win against Burton on Boxing Day will not be enough to see them move up the table as they now have a five point gap between themselves and fourth-placed Bristol City.
Burton on the other hand are now 21st in the standings after a brilliant couple of results in their recent outings.
The Brewers have won away at both Bolton and Reading to life themselves out of the relegation zone but they have not won in front of their own fans at the Pirelli since a 2-1 win over Fulham in September.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have become tangled up in a £70million transfer saga as a top-flight side eyes up this Elland Road ace.
