Sky Sports pundit predicts Leeds clash against Blackburn

By Amir Mir

Sky Sports David Prutton has backed Leeds to beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 on Wednesday night in their Championship clash.

The duo will meet at Ewood Park, with Rovers looking to move out of the bottom three and the Whites hoping to continue their impressive run in the top six.

Despite their brilliant form in the Championship, Garry Monk’s side were knocked out of the FA Cup in embarrassing fashion at the weekend.

They were beaten 1-0 by non-league side Sutton United as Monk will be hoping the result was just a small blip in what has been a positive season so far.

Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Prutton thinks Leeds will go back to winning ways against Owen Coyle’s men.

“Monk took full responsibility after the [FA Cup] loss,” Prutton told Sky Sports. “But I’m sure he would have told his players in no uncertain terms what is expected of them, and that it wasn’t anywhere near good enough.

“But I still see Leeds winning this.”

Monk’s side have lost their last two matches on the road in all competition, first losing to Barnsley in the Championship then the defeat against Sutton.

Despite that, they have won three out of their last five league games, but all three wins have come at Elland Road.

The Yorkshire club last picked up three points in the league against Simon Grayson’s Preston North End on Boxing Day.

Nonetheless, they now take on a team that is struggling in the relegation zone on 25 points from 27 games, but a win could see Blackburn move out of the bottom three.
