Snodgrass reveals why this West Ham ace surprised him

West Ham’s January signing Robert Snodgrass joked that he wasn’t aware team-mate Andy Carroll had a right foot after his goal against Southampton.

The 28-year-old striker is renowned for being dominant in the air and being predominantly left footed, but managed to score with his weaker foot in West Ham’s 3-1 victory over the Saints.

The Hammers are up to ninth-place in the Premier League table as a result and have won three of their last four games.

Carroll has been in great form for the Londoners since his return from injury and has scored six goals in 16 games this season.

Snodgrass has hailed the qualities his new team-mate and joked he was surprised with his right footed finish.

“The first goal was a great finish from a great through ball,” Snodgrass said, as quoted by the club’s official website. “Big Andy did what he does best with a terrific run into a good position and he put it away with his right foot. I didn’t even think he had a right foot, to be honest, but he’s put it away great.”

Carroll’s return to the side has seen them improve drastically and go from potential relegation candidates, to give them a good chance for a top 10 finish.

The forward is regarded as West Ham’s first-choice striker and is preferred over Jonathan Calleri and Ashley Fletcher.

His form has seen him touted for a potential recall to the England squad and he has not featured for the side since 2012.
