‘Some people aren’t happy’ – Thomas Tuchel has just broken the ‘golden rule’ with England

Thomas Tuchel’s tenure has England boss has been a success so far as they continue their preparations for the World Cup next summer.

England beat Wales 3-0 last time out thanks to goals from Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins and Bukayo Saka, and are now preparing to face Latvia.

Since taking over from Gareth Southgate in January, the German boss has taken charge of seven games, won six and lost just one in England’s friendly defeat to Senegal.

There is a feeling that the build-up towards the World Cup in the U.S.A, Mexico and Canada has been a success so far, but there is still more to come.

However, initial concerns have emerged about Tuchel’s team selections and recent public comments about the team and supporters.

Thomas Tuchel breaks ‘golden rule’ after slamming England fans

Despite his success in the position so far, there are concerns about the manager’s comments in the press, particularly following the 3-0 win against Wales.

Tuchel came out and criticised the Wembley crowd, claiming the stadium was “silent” and labelled it “sad”, which has left some supporters frustrated.

That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Tuchel has broken the “golden rule” of not criticising the fans.

“I was surprised he came out and said that, to be honest,” he told Football Insider.

“There are two golden rules in football, one is you don’t criticise your players in public, and the other one is you don’t criticise the supporters.

“Well, he’s just broken that second golden rule, so some people aren’t happy about it.

“I’m not sure it was as big an issue as it’s been made out to be, in all honesty, but coming out with that after what was an impressive win might not have been the best decision.

“It was unwise, because when people pay their money and travel to go and see the team play, they’re entitled to support the team however they choose to.

“Obviously, we see it in club football, when the fans are supporting through thick and thin it can be a huge boost, but that’s not the way it is with England.

Wembley has never been famous for a deafening atmosphere, especially not in England friendlies, but the manager’s criticisms have been seen as a risky move.

Jude Bellingham concerns emerge after England snub

The manager’s squad selections have also been questions in recent months, as Tuchel was slammed for leaving Adam Wharton out, while Jack Grealish’s displays have seen him tipped for a return.

Decisions to include the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Jordan Henderson have raised further questions, while Phil Foden was also among those left at home.

However, the most glaring snub from the most recent squad was that of Jude Bellingham, who has recently returned to the Real Madrid lineup after an injury.

Tuchel explained that Bellingham was left out of the squad as he had yet to reach full fitness after his recent spell on the sidelines with a shoulder injury.

As a result, Brown told Football Insider on 6 October that Tuchel will hold talks with Bellingham about his place amid suggestions of a potential bust-up.
