‘Something is happening’ at Liverpool after ‘big’ Klopp reveal on Wednesday – Phillips

Chelsea and Manchester City will be ‘worried’ about the form Liverpool are showing, according to Kevin Phillips.

The 2000 European Golden Shoe winner, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said “something special” is starting at Anfield after the Reds’ 1-0 win over Wolves on Saturday.

On Wednesday, Jurgen Klopp told the BBC that his side have made a “big step” in their development.

The 54-year-old claimed away wins at Everton and Manchester United show that his team can handle the emotion of big games.

Liverpool are one point off league-leaders Man City after leapfrogging Chelsea into second on Saturday.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Liverpool’s form, Phillips said: “It’s like the switch has been flicked at Liverpool.

“They have got the bit between their teeth. They have got that killer instinct.

“The players are gelling and you can see it on the pitch. I sense something special is starting at Liverpool again. They are getting on a similar role to when they won the Premier League.

“Players are stepping up to the plate, even those who are coming off the bench. Everyone is playing their part. They are a joy to watch and with [Mohamed] Salah, they have the most in-form player in the world.

“You sense something is happening which is quite worrying for the rest of the league. Others team are having to step up. It’s a cracking title race.”
