Son Heung-min ‘not allowed’ to ‘throw his toys out the pram’ at Tottenham – pundit

Frank McAvennie has insisted Son Heung-min will not “throw his toys out the pram” despite his lack of goals for Tottenham so far this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Antonio Conte would not allow any of his players to do so.

Son, 30, is yet to find the back of the net in his seven appearances for the Lilywhites this season.

Son was in the starting lineup for Spurs’ 2-0 victory over Marseille in their first Champions League group stage game on Wednesday (7 September).

As revealed by SofaScore (7 September), the South Korea international lost possession 17 times during the game.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Charlotte Cohen if the forward’s form was becoming a concern, McAvennie said: “He’s been doing other things and he might be contributing more to the team than we know.

Him and Harry Kane have a great partnership, one comes short one goes long and they mix and match it. Sometimes the two of them come short and someone from the midfield goes over the top, it’s a good way they’re working.

Tottenham

I don’t think the fans will be too unhappy with Son because his work rate is second to none. Just because he’s not scoring he’s not going to throw his toys out the pram, he’s going to get on with it.

Conte will not let anyone away with that, as long as they’re contributing to the team he’ll be happy. Son’s contributing to Tottenham that’s for sure.
