Sorry Harry, Kane lagging behind in top five greatest Tottenham homegrown stars

4 – Sol Campbell

Appearances: 315 – Goals: 15

While Campbell will always be remembered for turning his back on the club to join fierce rivals Arsenal, there can be no doubting the quality of the centre back.

Beginning his career as a striker, he spent a short time with West Ham’s youth academy but moved to Spurs in 1989, and the Hammers’ loss was without a doubt the Lilywhites’ gain.

An imposing presence at the heart of the defence, Campbell used both his physicality and awareness to dominate attackers and was a natural leader, being handed the captaincy and helping the club to notable success.

Lifting the League Cup in 1999, the 73-cap England international’s relationship with the club soured over the remaining years and after his contract ran out in 2001, he made the short journey across north London to join Arsenal, where he continued to taste success throughout his career.
