3. JIMMY McGRORY
Still Celtic’s top scorer with 485 goals and the leading goalscorer in British football history, McGrory’s legend lives on even though he stopped playing in 1938.
Scored a remarkable 59 goals in 1926-27, yet somehow bettered it the season later, the player was determined to stay with his beloved Hoops even after the Celtic board tried to sell him to Arsenal.
Amongst his many feats of goal-scoring prowess, he set the record for hat-tricks in British football, which still stands at 55.
Later managed the club from 1945 to 1965, only winning one league title in that time but recording some notable victories, such as the iconic 1957 7-1 League Cup Final victory over Rangers.
