Sources: Alastair Graham heads to Aston Villa after Strachan grants permission

Aston Villa have taken Dundee wonderkid Alastair Graham on trial, sources have told Football Insider.

Goalkeeper Graham, 15, is highly regarded at Dundee and has represented Scotland at youth level.

His immense potential has alerted a number of English Premier League clubs including Villa.

Dundee’s technical director Gordon Strachan has agreed for Graham to spend some time training with the Midlands giants as they weigh up a move.

Graham has worked his way up the Dundee youth system but will now head south of the border to test his level of quality with Villa.

The young goalkeeper represented Scotland’s Under-15s against Malta back in September.

Unai Emery has highlighted the importance of introducing youth players to Aston Villa’s squad since his appointment at Villa Park in October.

During the World Cup break, the Spaniard showed faith in several academy players by calling them up to join first-team training while many stars were away with their national teams.

Arjan Raikhy, Lamare Bogarde, Josh Feeney, Tommi O’Reilly, James Wright and Filip Marschall and Kadan Young were all involved in training.

Should Graham complete a move to the Premier League side, he’ll be competing with Emiliano Martinez, Viljami Sinisalo, Robin Olsen and Oliwier Zych for a spot in the first team.

However, Emery may lose one of his goalkeepers amid interest in first-choice shot-stopper Martinez.

Football Insider sources revealed on Monday (20 February) that Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Juventus are all interested in signing the World Cup winner.
