Sources: Allan Saint-Maximin planning to quit Newcastle United
Winger Allan Saint-Maximin could depart Newcastle United this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Sources with knowledge of the 26-year-old’s situation have revealed that Saint-Maximin himself will look to leave St James’ Park if he doesn’t receive assurances about playing time.
Champions League semi-finalists AC Milan are monitoring the Frenchman’s situation, while top clubs from across Europe are ready to pounce if they receive indications that a deal is possible.
Competition for places at Newcastle is set to become more fierce in the 2023-24 campaign with the Magpies on course to finish inside the top four and thus qualify for the Champions League group stages.
It is believed that Saint-Maximin is concerned about becoming a backup option at the club, and could pursue a summer exit.
He has made 26 appearances across all competitions this term – but has been named in Eddie Howe’s starting lineup just 11 times in the Premier League.
The right-footed left-winger has managed one goal and five assists across all competitions.
Hamstring injuries have also restricted Saint-Maximin’s ability to nail down a starting berth – with the 26-year-old missing the last three games as the Premier League run-in approaches.
Newcastle have also moved to add a new left-winger recently, with Anthony Gordon joining the club from Everton in January for a reported £45million.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (24 April) that the Magpies are also keen on doing a deal for Leeds United youngster Crysensio Summerville in the summer window.

Newcastle sit third in the top flight following their 6-1 demolition of top-four rivals Tottenham on Sunday (23 April).
Howe’s side face relegation-threatened Everton in their next challenge on Thursday (27 April).
