Sources: Angel Gomes’ stance on permanent Wolves transfer revealed amid latest
Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Angel Gomes is reluctant to move to Molineux permanently if they suffer relegation to the Championship, sources have told Football Insider.
The Black Country outfit hold the option to buy the 25-year-old at the end of his loan spell, but the player himself would only be happy to see that happen if Rob Edwards’ side remained in the Premier League.
Gomes is keen to ensure that he is playing at the highest level possible at this stage of his career, and sources have indicated that it would be a hard deal for the division’s bottom club to pull off without having top-flight football to offer.
Wolves are keen to keep hold of the four-cap England international beyond the end of the season, but they may be forced to turn their attention elsewhere to get their summer reinforcements.

How much would Wolves need to pay for Angel Gomes?
Gomes returned to English football after over five years away when he made the switch to Molineux in January, after a difficult start to his time at Marseille.
The French giants fought off competition from the Premier League to sign him on a free transfer from Lille last summer, but they were keen to offload him in January after just 20 appearances.
Gomes has since started four times for Wolves in the Premier League, including in their surprise win over Liverpool on 3 March, which saw them cut the gap to now stand at 12 points adrift of safety.
It remains highly unlikely that Edwards’ men will be able to beat the drop, despite their recent resurgence, and that looks set to potentially take a permanent move for Gomes beyond their reach.
Their option to buy him as part of the initial agreement is relatively cheap at around the £6million mark, according to Ben Jacobs, but it will be difficult to trigger that if the player himself is not keen.
Hugo Bueno’s agent pushing for Molineux exit
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown recently told Football Insider that talk of Hugo Bueno potentially joining Newcastle has stemmed from his agent.
The left-back has been strongly linked with a switch to St James’ Park of late, but Brown is adamant that his agent will have put in a call to the Tynesiders, rather than them approaching him or placing him high up on their shortlist.
He added that several clubs are likely to be looking at Wolves’ squad to see how they can exploit their recent struggles, while agents could push for exits for the likes of Bueno.
The Old Gold side’s recent upturn has given them a glimmer of hope that survival could still potentially be on the cards, but it looks far more likely at the moment that the vultures will continue to circle after they are relegated.
