Sources: Arsenal could now sacrifice top targets to land duo instead
Arsenal are considering sacrificing top transfer targets in favour of signing both Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Gunners are set for a busy transfer window, with Mikel Arteta pushing to improve his squad after narrowly missing out on the Premier League title.
Arsenal are favourites to sign both Rice and Caicedo this summer, but affording both star midfielders would require the North London club to give up on other targets.
Football Insider sources revealed on Sunday (6 May) that it is ‘very possible’ that Arsenal sign both Rice and Caicedo this summer.
But with West Ham only willing to sell their captain for a huge fee of nearly £100million and Brighton holding out for their £70-80million valuation of Caicedo, it would burn a large portion of Arsenal’s transfer budget.
It would likely mean that Arsenal’s pursuit of a centre-back, right-back and striker would all be put on pause in order to finance deals for Rice and Caicedo.
Should the Gunners decide against signing both stars, Liverpool and Chelsea have a strong interest in both Caicedo and Rice and could look to strike a deal.

Both players have been pivotal for their sides this season, with Rice making 47 appearances across all competitions, including 34 Premier League starts.
Similarly, Caicedo has made 40 appearances in all competitions and helped the Seagulls to climb up to sixth in the Premier League table.
