Sources: Arsenal poised to submit Fresneda bid
Arsenal are prepared to submit an offer for Real Valladolid defender Ivan Fresneda this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The 18-year-old is a long-term target for the Gunners, with the North London club attempting but failing to sign him in January.
It is understood that Arsenal are now ready to reignite their interest in Fresneda and table a bid that matches Valladolid’s £20million asking price.
There is also interest in Fresneda from Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund, with the German club currently leading the race to sign him.
Football Insider sources revealed on Friday (5 May) that Dortmund are in talks with Fresneda over a £20million move.
With Arsenal set to face competition for Fresneda, the Gunners are prepared to enter a bidding war to secure the talented youngster’s signature.
Mikel Arteta is understood to be a big admirer of the Spaniard’s versatility, with Fresneda playing at both right-back and centre-back for Valladolid.
Fresneda has burst onto the scene in Spain this season, making his debut in September 2022 and quickly cementing a spot in the starting lineup after a number of impressive performances.

He has made 21 senior appearances across all competitions for Paulo Pezzolano’s side, and his importance is emphasised by the 16 starts he has been handed in La Liga in 2022/23.
Valladolid find themselves battling relegation this season with five games remaining, and it is understood that demotion would only accelerate Fresneda’s departure from the club.
