Sources: Aston Villa have Robin Olsen bid accepted as fourth summer signing agreed

Aston Villa have agreed to sign Robin Olsen on a permanent deal, Football Insider understands.

This site revealed on 21 April that the Midlands giants were in advanced talks to convert the 32-year-old’s loan into a full-time transfer.

Now a recruitment source has told Football Insider that Villa have finalised a deal with Roma for the signing of the goalkeeper.

The two clubs have agreed a fee of £3million for Olsen and personal terms with the player have also been agreed.

Steven Gerrard and the Villa coaching staff have been impressed with the impact made by Olsen even though he has been the deputy for Emiliano Martinez following his arrival.

He is set to become the club’s fourth summer signing after the captures of Philippe Coutinho, Boubacar Kamara and Diego Carlos.

Olsen joined the Villans back in January after spending the first half of the 2021/22 season with Sheffield United.

The Sweden international was an ever-present in the Villans’ matchday squad following his move.

However, his sole appearance came in the 3-2 defeat to Manchester City on the final day of the season.

The shot-stopper has a total of eight Premier League appearances under his belt after a spell at Everton.

He spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan with the Toffees.

Despite his lack of game time, Olsen’s professionalism and quality has convinced Gerrard to make his temporary stay permanent.

As well as Olsen and Martinez, Villa also have Jed Steer to call upon between the sticks.

The 29-year-old joined Luton Town on loan in January but has a year left on his Villa contract.
