Sources: Aston Villa plan to accept Bertrand Traore offer

Aston Villa will listen to offers for Bertrand Traore this summer despite recalling him in January, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The winger, 27, cut short a loan spell at Turkish club Basaksehir FK mid-season after suffering a knee injury.

Traore is on the comeback trail and will soon be in contention for a first-team return as Unai Emery looks to make use of him for the first time since taking over as manager.

But it is believed that Traore’s future beyond this season remains up in the air and the club will once again listen to offers for him in the summer.

They were willing to do loan and permanent deals last summer, and ended up agreeing a season-long loan with Basaksehir FK that ended early when the recall clause was activated.

Villa sold Danny Ings to West Ham in January and replaced him with fellow centre-forward Jhon Duran, who joined from Chicago Fire for around £15million.

There are expected to be multiple attacking exits again this summer as Emery looks to offload the club’s underperforming wide attacking players.

Traore has struggled to make an impact since his £17million arrival from Lyon in the summer of 2020, partly due to injury and partly due to mixed form.

He will be out of contract in 16 months’ time, and the upcoming window could be the last opportunity to secure a significant fee for him.

That would certainly be boosted if he gets significant game time between now and the end of the season.

Traore, who scored three goals in 18 appearances for Basaksehir FK, has played just 48 matches for Villa in three seasons, which have yielded eight goals and seven assists.
