Sources: Aston Villa ready to accept Lucas Digne offer as deal finalised
Aston Villa are willing to listen to offers for Lucas Digne just a year after his move from Everton, sources have told Football Insider.
Unai Emery has given the green light to Villa letting the left-back, 29, go as the club finalise the capture of Alex Moreno from Real Betis.
Villa have had a £12.5million bid accepted by Betis and Moreno has been granted permission to fly to Birmingham on Wednesday (11 January) for a medical and to complete the move.
The imminent new signing is expected to become the first-choice left-back at the Midlands giants and that will mean Digne and Ludwig Augustinsson slipping down the pecking order.
Augustinsson, 28, is on a season-long loan from Sevilla but it is believed that Emery has been impressed by him.
Digne, who joined from Everton on a lucrative four-year contract last year, could be the one let go to trim the club’s wage bill.
The vastly-experienced 46-cap France international is reportedly the highest earner at Villa Park – in front of Philippe Coutinho and World Cup winner Emiliano Martinez.
He has notched two goals and four assists in 32 games since joining the Midlands giants for a reported fee of £25million 12 months ago.
The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star has lost his place in Didier Deschamps’ France squad since moving to Villa.

Since taking over, Emery has led his new side to three wins in five Premier League games – leaving Villa 11th in the table.
The Spaniard faces off against Jesse Marsch’s Leeds United side on Friday (13 January) – before travelling to bottom club Southampton next week (21 January).
