Sources: Barnsley, Blackpool and Northampton Town make moves to sign Liverpool star Layton Stewart
Liverpool striker Layton Stewart is a loan target for Barnsley, Blackpool and Northampton, sources have told Football Insider.
The EFL trio have registered their interest in taking the forward, 20, for next season.
Liverpool feel a loan move would be the best option for the next stage of Stewart‘s development.
He made his senior debut for Jurgen Klopp’s side last season in the Carabao Cup against Derby.
Stewart has been a prolific goalscorer in Liverpool’s youth sides and netted 11 goals in 17 Premier League 2 games last season.
He has managed 45 goals and seven assists in 62 total games in the Reds’ youth ranks – including in the UEFA Youth League.
The striker is out of contract at Liverpool in June 2025.
Stewart made a full comeback last term after a serious knee injury sustained in March 2021 stunted his path to senior football.
He ruptured his meniscus, anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in Premier League 2 action against West Ham and spent more than a year on the sidelines.
Barnsley, Blackpool and Northampton will all play League One football in the 2023-24 campaign.
The Tykes missed out on promotion via the playoffs last term and have lost manager Michael Duff to Swansea this summer.
Blackpool were relegated to the third tier in the 2022-23 campaign, while Northampton achieved promotion from League Two.

Stewart is not the only Liverpool product set to gain experience with an EFL loan next term.
Calvin Ramsay, 19, has sealed a temporary move to Championship Preston for the 2023-24 campaign.
