Sources: Big update on Aston Villa and Arsenal race to sign Buendia after latest talks
Aston Villa are confident they have edged ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Emiliano Buendia after the latest talks, Football Insider understands.
The Premier League duo are going head to head to prise the right-sided attacker from Norwich City this summer.
A Villa source has told Football Insider they have made progress over a potential summer deal since the Premier League season ended.
Reports have stated Norwich City will not sell Buendia for less than their £40million asking price.
But the source explained that the up-front price for the Argentine will be considerably less than that sum.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 25th May that Villa had opened preliminary talks over a deal for Buendia.

At the time, Arsenal were reportedly the frontrunners for the Norwich attacker after trying to lure him in the January window.
But Villa could have the cash and ambition to blow the London giants out of the water as they look to recruit two wide forwards in this window.
As revealed by Football Insider, Burnley star Dwight McNeil is also on the radar of the Midlands giants as well as Werder Bremen’s Milot Rashica.
Buendia has been identified as a player approaching his peak who is capable of strengthening a Villa attack that has been overly reliant on Jack Grealish.
The Argentine scored 15 goals and registered 17 assists in the recently-completed Championship season, creating more chances than any other player in the division.
He also has played in the Premier League for a season since his 2018 transfer from Spanish club Getafe.
