Sources: Big update on Marseille-Ntcham as Celtic exit agreed

Marseille have agreed to sign Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham on loan with an obligation to buy, Football Insider understands.

This site broke the news early that an agreement had been reached for the 24-year-old to return to his native France ahead of tonight’s 11PM deadline.

A recruitment source has now told Football Insider that all parties have agreed on a deal that will see the midfielder move to Marseille on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

Such a clause means that the Frenchman has likely played his last game for the Bhoys.

Ntcham has been pushing to return to his native France this month having fallen down the pecking order at Parkhead this season.

He has made 23 appearances for the Hoops in all competitions this term but has not started a league game since October.

Football Insider revealed earlier in mid-January that the former France Under-21 had been given the green light to leave the club in this window.

The £4.5million signing from Manchester City in July 2017 has been deemed surplus to requirements by Neil Lennon following the rise of David Turnbull and Ismaila Soro.

This site revealed on 20 January that the Glasgow giants had slashed their asking price for the midfielder to just £7million.

Ntcham also attracted the interest of Newcastle United this month with Steve Bruce keen to add a midfielder to his ranks before tonight’s deadline.

But Marseille have won the race for the midfielder who has made 147 career appearances for Celtic.

In other news, Celtic have had a deal for one of their top transfer targets hijacked after advanced talks.
