Sources: Big update on Rangers potentially signing Kevin van Veen
Rangers have a stronger chance of signing Groningen striker Kevin van Veen this January than Hearts ace Lawrence Shankland, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed that a move for the former Motherwell striker would fit the Gers’ winter budget and that a loan deal could be a possibility which would suit all parties.
Sources have told Football Insider that the Dutch second-division side would be open to such a deal and that Rangers would be eager for a striker with experience in Scotland.

Sources told Football Insider that van Veen is interested in returning to Scottish football while a move for Shankland is much more likely in the summer transfer window.
Rangers could bring in another forward in January after agreeing the sensational capture of Fabio Silva on loan from Wolves for the rest of the season.

Hearts have held contract talks with their captain Shankland, who has scored 16 goals in all competitions this season, but he is yet to put pen to paper.
Van Veen has bagged five goals across 15 appearances this season but impressively notched 29 goals in 44 appearances last season for the Steelmen.
