Sources: Bournemouth in advanced talks to sign Roma star Matias Vina

Bournemouth are in advanced talks to sign Roma defender Matias Vina, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League strugglers are putting the finishing touches to a loan deal with an option to buy for the Uruguayan left-back.

Vina, 25, is out of favour at Roma and has made just seven appearances in all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s side so far this season.

Roma are willing to let Vina move on and Bournemouth are confident of finalising a deal for the full-back before next week’s transfer deadline.

Vina only joined the Italian club in the summer of 2021 after impressing at Brazilian outfit Plameiras.

During his first season at the club he made 27 league appearances, 18 of which were starts, though his appearances diminished as the season went on, failing to start in any of the club’s last 13 top-flight outings.

He also barely featured in the Europa Conference League as Roma won the inaugural edition of the competition, making three starts in the club’s run to the final.

Vina is an experienced international, making 28 appearances for his country.

He made two cameo appearances at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, totalling 15 minutes of action as Uruguay were eliminated at the group stage.
