Sources: Brentford consider move for Hernandez after trial
Brentford are considering a move for non-league striker Alex Hernandez after taking him on trial, Football Insider understands.
Hernandez has caught the eye of Brentford scouts after scoring 15 goals on loan at East Thurrock United from National League south side Concord Rangers.
The 19-year-old has linked up with Brentford on trial this week and scored and assisted a goal in a behind-closed-doors game for the Brentford B side in midweek.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Brentford have been impressed by Hernandez during his stint at the Premier League club and are weighing up a deal for the striker.
He moved to seventh-tier East Thurrock at the beginning of the season and has been in red-hot form ever since.
Hernandez was part of the Concord Rangers squad that lost 1-0 to League Two Harrogate Town in the rearranged FA Trophy final last May (2021) but was an unused substitute.
Brentford have not been shy of dipping into non-league to pluck the best talent.
They signed Dom Jefferies from Salisbury last year after he spent the first half of 2021 on trial with the club.

He is a part of the B team squad that eschew the usual Under-23s fixtures to play friendlies and various cup competitions.
The club confirmed yesterday (27 January) the B squad will head off to Portugal next month for the Atlantic Cup.
