Sources: Brentford plotting to sign Ligue 1 goal machine to play with Toney

Brentford are planning to bolster their strikeforce with the signing of Strasbourg goal machine Habib Diallo this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed the Bees are looking to sign the 27-year-old to play alongside talisman Ivan Toney – despite Premier League interest in the England international.

Football Insider revealed last month (27 April) that Toney is the subject of interest from Aston Villa, who have joined Man United in putting the red-hot striker on their radar.

The 27-year-old Englishman has managed 21 goals and five assists in 35 games across all competitions this season – including a best-ever return of 20 strikes in the Premier League.

However, Brentford and Toney are preparing for a potential FA sanction after he admitted breaching betting rules earlier this year.

In March, Sky Sports claimed the forward could be banned for around six months.

Brentford have turned their attention to bolstering their attacking arsenal, with Diallo catching the eye of club scouts.

It is believed club representatives from the Bees – as well as West Ham, Brighton, Crystal Palace and Fulham – watched the Senegal international in action against Nice on Saturday (13 May).

Diallo notched a brace in a 2-0 win for Strasbourg, bringing his tally for the season to 20 across 35 appearances in all competitions.

The forward has two years remaining on his contract with the Alsace club.

Toney’s goals have helped Brentford into ninth place – which would be their best-ever Premier League finish.

Wingers Bryan Mbuemo (seven goals) and Yoanne Wissa (six goals) have also contributed to the Bees’ historic season.
