Sources: Bruno Fernandes’ stance on leaving Man United in January revealed

Bruno Fernandes has been heavily linked with a move away from Man United in the near future amid growing interest from Saudi Pro League sides.

Bruno turned down Al Hilal’s offer during the summer as he planned to help United turn around their fortunes after a dreadful season last time out.

Football Insider revealed in August that Ruben Amorim was determined to keep Fernandes as he remained a crucial part of his plans for the future.

However, there have been more recent suggestions that he could be allowed to leave Old Trafford as early as January if Saudi clubs reignite their interest.

With a potential £100milllion offer on the cards, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Man United could allow Fernandes to leave.

Bruno Fernandes unlikely to quit Man United in January

Football Insider revealed on 15 September that Fernandes could be tempted to leave Man United if their performances do not show significant improvement.

However, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the Portugal international is not considering a January exit as things stand.

While it remains possible he could leave at the end of the season, neither Man United nor Fernandes are planning to entertain a mid-season departure.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “I would think it’s highly, highly unlikely that Fernandes would leave Man United mid-season and also that Man United would consider selling their club captain mid-season.

“He’s 31 now, I don’t think Fernandes would consider leaving midway through this season, especially with a World Cup coming up at the end of the season with Portugal.

“Fernandes is the club captain, he’s turned down offers from the Saudi Pro League in the last couple of transfer windows, but that interest will remain.

“Saudi Pro League clubs would love to sign a player of the calibre of Fernandes and I’m sure they will rekindle that interest, but it’s a very difficult deal to do in January.

“It’s such a key moment for them as well. Being the club captain as well, it wouldn’t send out the right signals if he was to leave in January.”

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed in August that Ruben Amorim was determined to keep Fernandes as he remained a crucial part of his plans for the future.

Man United lining up Fernandes replacement amid exit latest

Brown told Football Insider on 9 October that Man United are lining up replacements for Fernandes, with Kobbie Mainoo being eyed to step into his role.

Man United see Mainoo as being ready to step into the squad in place for Fernandes and are lining him up as the Portuguese midfielder’s natural successor.

This comes after Amorim controversially confirmed Mainoo and Fernandes are fighting for a starting XI place amid questions about the England international’s future.

Football Insider revealed on 19 September that Man United will not let Mainoo leave, depsite suggestions he could push for a move to Newcastle.

As a result of United’s long-term plans for Mainoo to replace Fernandes at Old Trafford, they are not willing to entertain any talk about his potential exit.
