Sources: Burnley respond to Peterborough offer for Norris

Burnley have rejected an offer from Peterborough United for goalkeeper Will Norris, Football Insider understands.

Peterborough are in the market for a new goalkeeper in January as they look to bolster their survival hopes and had made a move for Norris.

But a Burnley source has told Football Insider that they have knocked back the Championship club’s loan offer for Norris.

The 28-year-old is currently third choice at Turf Moor behind Nick Pope and Wayne Hennessy.

Norris is yet to make an appearance for Burnley this season though he has featured on the bench in the Premier League four times.

He has only made three appearances for the Clarets since he joined the club in August 2020.

The stopper left Wolves after only making eight appearances during a three-year spell.

During his final season with Wolves, he joined Ipswich Town on loan and made 20 appearances in all competitions.

He shared goalkeeping duties with Tomas Holy as the Tractor Boys finished 11th in their first season back in the third tier.

Norris’ made 97 appearances for Cambridge United before joining Wolves in 2017.

54 of those appearances came during his final season at the club after earning his stripes on loan at Royston Town.

Peterborough sit 22nd in the Championship and have only won one of their last nine league games.

However, they are just two points from safety.

In other news, an insider has been told by “multiple sources” that Tottenham are “confident” of agreeing a new contract with Harry Kane.
