Sources: Burnley submit offer for Dortmund star Soumaila Coulibaly
Burnley have submitted a loan offer for Borussia Dortmund defender Soumaila Coulibaly, sources have told Football Insider.
Burnley and Dortmund are locked in talks over the move with the German club yet to decide what they feel would be the best move for his development.
Clarets boss Vincent Kompany is a big admirer of Coulibaly and hopes to bring him to Turf Moor in the coming weeks.
The centre-back, 19, is highly regarded at Dortmund and made two first-team appearances for the German club last season in the Bundesliga and Champions League.
Burnley are in the market for reinforcements in central defence with Taylor Harwood-Bellis returning to Manchester City following his successful loan spell last season.
Coulibaly joined Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in 2021 but has since been unable to make his mark in the first team.
The 19-year-old made 16 appearances for Dortmund’s reserve side last season.
He made his Bundesliga debut against Stuttgart in April as the Black and Yellows were held to a costly 3-3 draw in their hunt for a first league title in 12 years.
Coulibaly still has three years left on his current contract with Borussia Dortmund, meaning there is a still chance for him to reignite his career in Germany with a successful loan move in England.

Burnley boss Kompany will need to add strength to give his side the best possible chance of securing Premier League survival – and the acquisition of Coulibaly would bolster his options.
The Clarets have already wrapped up the permanent arrival of centre-back Jordan Beyer, 23, following a successful loan from Borussia Monchengladbach in the 2022-23 campaign.
