Sources: Celtic star Boli Bolingoli in line for new transfer after club talks

Celtic do not expect Boli Bolingoli to play for the club again, Football Insider understands.

The left-back, 26, returned to Parkhead at the start of this month after his loan move to Russian club FC Ufa was terminated.

A Celtic source has told Football Insider that Bolingoli is deemed surplus to requirements by Ange Postecoglu and his coaching staff.

The club have told the former Club Brugge defender he is free to find a new club at the end of the season, when he is expected to leave permanently or on loan again.

Bolingoli has a contract with the Hoops that runs until the summer of 2023.

This site broke the news on 17 February that the defender was in talks over a loan move to Russian Premier League side Ufa.

However, on 22 March, Glasgow Times reported he was unable to obtain a work permit due to frosty relations between the UK and Russia as a result of the war in Ukraine.

The Belgian has made just two appearances this season, with his last outing coming in a win at Motherwell in October.

Bolingoli joined the Hoops from Club Brugge in the summer of 2019 but has struggled to build on an encouraging start to his career in Scotland.

During his first season at the club, he only started 14 league games after falling out of favour during the second half of the season.

Last term he was loaned to İstanbul Başakşehir and made 18 appearances in all competitions after again failing to impress Neil Lennon.

Bolingoli has only made 31 appearances for Celtic but still has two Premiership titles to his name.
